What would you talk about over breakfast with the President of the United States? Author Peter Clothier not only imagined it, but put in on paper in his new book, The Real Bush Diaries — a wry, somewhat irreverent and highly personal take on the day-to-day activities of President George W. Bush in the course of the year following his re-election.

Starting out as one man’s Internet blog, The Real Bush Diaries is the collection of Clothier’s daily musings and meditations about topics from the attack on Falluja to The March of the Penguins, and he finds relevance in each to the ongoing affairs of the nation. Adhering, in so far as possible, to the fair-minded Middle Path of a seasoned thinker, Clothier brings a bemused and thoughtful eye to the events of the year, great and small.

“Peter Clothier’s book gives a unique and humorous perspective on the present administration’s policies,” says critic Mireille Grovier. “It reflects a dissent with dignity and is a must read for those who want to sort through editorial clichés and chaos to attain clarity.”

Born in England, Clothier has made his home in the United States since the early 1960s. A widely published writer known chiefly for his 30 years as an observer of the contemporary art world, his previous books include two volumes of poetry, two novels, a memoir and a monograph on the artist David Hockney. After many years as a university professor and administrator, Clothier enjoys his current status as a “recovering academic” and has been surviving in glorious independence as a freelance writer.

The Real Bush Diaries is available in hardcover (ISBN 1-58939-861-0) and softcover (ISBN 1-58939-843-2) from Virtualbookworm.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com. The book can also be ordered from most bookstores around the United States and the United Kingdom.
