In a time of turmoil and warfare between the British aided Protestants and the poorer Catholics in Northern Ireland, an American photojournalist finds himself drawn between the lines while finding the “perfect shot” in Douglas Clark’s Belfast.

Mason Devereux, an American freelance photojournalist, is drawn into doing a project on the violence while visiting Northern Ireland. The Irish Republican Army is interested in publicity showing Protestant paramilitaries' violence against Catholics. A deal is struck and Devereux is given access to extraordinary photo opportunities. Devereux accepts the I.R.A.'s assistance, but finds his own incriminating photographs of the I.R.A.'s violence.

On the verge of a negotiated peace with the British government, a renegade faction of the I.R.A., lead by seventies legendary gunman Michael Flynn, derails the movement toward peace. Flynn and Devereux cross paths in a sequence of violent events that prolong the tragedy of Northern Ireland's Troubles.

Douglas Clark is a business executive and former engineer. Belfast grew out of his deep interest in history and the centuries old antagonisms in Ireland that reflect sectarian violence throughout the world today. Mr. Clark currently resides in Southern California.

Belfast is available in softcover (ISBN 1-58939-628-6) and hardcover (ISBN 1-58939-629-4) from Virtualbookworm.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com. The book can also be ordered from most bookstores around the United States and the United Kingdom. More information about the book and author can be found at www.belfastbook.com.
