A dark presence looms over the Kingdom of Tides in The Song of Steel, a sci-fi fantasy written by W.R. Logan. The Song of Steel is the first book of The Crystal Staff Trilogy.

The story begins in a kingdom where peace lasted for decades, but trouble is brewing. A cult in the Kingdom of Tides rouses an ancient magic held confined in a crystal staff. With it, the cult controls their king and plots to use his army, the Steel Tide, to rid the world of all half-breeds.

Kings, knights, assassins and lords all come together in times of great tragedy and bad omens to prevail over evil. The fates of all the kingdoms hang on the magic and mystery of the crystal staff.

Logan began his career writing short stories for sci-fi and fantasy magazines. He sold his first story, The Silent Sands, at the age of eighteen. He now lives in the Tampa Bay area with his wife, Irene, and two daughters, Caitlin and Brianna.

The Song of Steel is available in softcover (ISBN 1-58939-634-0) and hardcover (ISBN 1-58939-9) from Virtualbookworm.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com. The book can also be ordered from most bookstores around the United States and the United Kingdom. More information about the book and author can be found at www.songofsteel.net.
