A trip to church on Sunday will assuredly reveal many Christian customs and traditions, but what is the reasoning behind them? Is there a better way? A new novel by J.C. Hicks, Menders of the Soul, is a devotional that persuades Christian leaders to rethink the current presumptions behind many popular church practices.

In this book, Hicks makes ten points: seven are observations about the current church, and three are suggestions for doing work differently. Menders of the Soul is fresh, creative, and accessible for people in all roles of the church. Whether a first-time church member, or a veteran church worker, the reader will find many gold nuggets to help them become menders of souls.

J.C. Hicks is Minister of Community at Fruitland Community Church in Jackson, MO. After working 11 years for a large fortune 500 company, he left corporate life to pursue full time ministry. He currently attends Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. J.C. believes his highest calling, after God, is to his wife and four children, who reside with him in Cape Girardeau Missouri. J.C. and his wife Lynn are passionate homeschoolers who believe that the most important leaders in society are godly parents.

Menders of the Soul is available in softcover (ISBN 1-58939-652-9) from Virtualbookworm.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com. The book can also be ordered from most bookstores around the United States and the United Kingdom. To find out more about J.C. Hicks and Menders of the Soul, visit www.mendersofthesoul.com.
