Andy McCurdy, not yet 17 years old, describes himself as irresponsible and underachieving; he is sure he doesn’t rank high on God’s “favored list.” The night before embarking on a Baja sailing voyage, he sees a suspicious-looking couple on a dock in San Diego and becomes convinced that he has witnessed the getaway of murdering smugglers. The peace and tranquility of the sea and his love for his stepsister are clouded by his fear of running into the couple once more. His adventures expose him to certain death, but Andy reaches inside himself and discovers his own hidden courage and resourcefulness. Dobson was a U.S. Air Force jet fighter pilot in the Korean War. An avid sailor, he and his wife Sonia made many trips around Baja and through the Sea of Cortez in the 1970s. He is a retired senior vice president of American Express Financial Advisors and has served as the president of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce. Dobson and his wife now live in Eugene, Oregon. They have, between them, nine children and 18 grandchildren. The First Life of Andy McCurdy is available in softcover (ISBN 1-58939-787-8) from Virtualbookworm.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com. The book can also be ordered from most bookstores around the United States and the United Kingdom. |
