Set against the rural backdrop of northern Pennsylvania, each character’s unique experience unfolds. The reader, immersed in the natural world and a witness to very human struggles, will discover in these stories a joyful melancholy, much like the sun sometimes breaks through the storm clouds. Connolly has been celebrated as an author who “masterfully weaves a tale of life, love, and nature,” and his latest work, Not Far From Town, is no exception. Connolly graduated from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania, where he received the Finnegan Award for Poetry. He completed his graduate work at State University of New York at Oswego and Cortland, Elmira College and UMass at North Adams. After teaching Project Adventure and creative writing in New York public school, Connolly moved to Oregon to focus on writing. He wrote a children’s book, Bradley’s Christmas Adventure, and his first novel, Wolf Journal, was selected as a finalist for the Oregon Book Award. His short stories and poems have appeared in numeral literary magazines from Maine to Washington. Connolly grew up in Port Allegany, the setting for Not Far From Town. Not Far From Town is available in softcover (ISBN 1-58939-865-3) from Virtualbookworm.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com. The book can also be ordered from most bookstores around the United States and the United Kingdom. |
