Zak B. Tjewels’ new book, From the Depths of Heaven: Serious Pink & Satin Yellow, leads us into a world of fiction and fantasy.

Thorlainen, our hero, one day finds his mundane and generally pointless life rudely disrupted by a galactic catastrophe. He, along with the other non-affluents, is now on the run from the totalitarian empowerment of Tellus, an evil ruler.

When Thorlainen finds he is the sole survivor, he realizes that survival brings mortal danger. He soon encounters an affluent woman, Chitmaa, who befriends Thorlainen. Although he knows this woman could have deceptive motives, Thorlainen accepts a relationship with Chitmaa. Quickly more relationships begin to form as Thorlainen is assisted by a paradoxical old man and a military officer, both escaping execution as well. As Thorlainen takes command of an entire ship of deportees, his heroism is put to the test when their only chance of survival is to escape by sea.

Zak B. Tjewels spent his youth sailing the Caribbean and Mediterranean and has made sailing, designing, and building boats a way of life. His adventures at sea have provided him with a glimpse of all corners of the world. Finding himself in Finland, Tjewels and his wife decided to stay and raise their children. The ‘90s recession in Finland hit his family hard, and Tjewels had to switch from designing workboats to learning computers. He is currently employed by a software company as a technical writer, webmaster, and CD designer.

From the Depths of Heaven: Serious Pink & Satin Yellow is available in softcover (ISBN 1-58939-548-4) from Virtualbookworm.com, Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com.
